A lovely and often funny offering in the genre of memoirs/essays wrapped around food and recipes. However, it's a great before bedtime read since each chapter is a single piece. Colwin wrote these for food magazines, such as Gormet, from the 70s to the 90s. While some of her recipes will seem old-fashioned to younger readers, many seem very contemporary. But mostly this is just good writing from a warm and witty author. Colwin was a treasure and we lost her too soon.
